VOLUME 1, ISSUE 7 THE ACTON MONTHLY PAGE 3 Race to Net Zero Event held to raise awareness of real climate solutions In honour of Earth Day, the Town of Halton Hills and Your Green Homes held the Race to Net Zero event, on April 22nd, at the Acton Arena & Community Centre. The purpose of the Race to Net Zero event was to raise awareness of real climate solutions, while providing an opportunity for residents to get involved and for local businesses to showcase their environmentally-friendly products. Attendees of the event were able to have a peek at a line-up of electric vehicles, and were also able to take them for a test drive in the parking lot outside the Arena. Along with a line-up of electric care, visitors had the opportunity to learn about the various environmental programs that locally aim to help improve the ecosystem. Some of the organizations on hand to provide education on the importance of protecting the environment included the Halton Environmental Network, the Halton Butterfly Network, and Trees for Halton Hills, among others. Additionally, there was a bicycle swap where attendees were able to purchase used bikes, at reasonable prices, with all proceeds going to support local food programs. According to event organizers, the bike swap was very popular, so much so, that most of the bicycles were sold within the first hour of opening for business. This event was one of many throughout Halton Hills to celebrate Earth Week. iol Ba-M@) ehalat-lar-M {lal lave mda @ all lala hee 1 Mountain View Ra. 905.873.6663 co Acton’s favourite eyecare provider ¢ Eye exams available on site e Adjustments, cleaning and minor repairs are always free 80 Mill Street East 519-853-5133 © actonoptical.ca
