Page 14 = Halton Hills This Week, Saturday, October 17, 1992 @ Principal's corner Thanksgiving is the first signifi- cant juncture in our new school year. For our hardworking cafeteria staff, under the watchful eye of manager Louise Melton, it means preparing over 500 full-course turkey dinner for staff and students. Profits from our cafeteria go to sup- port the many co-curricular teams and clubs. Last year we raised $25,000 for this purpose. For our teachers and office staff, it means preparing and mailing over 600 Sunshine Letters, Letters of Concern and preliminary Grade 9 report cards. This is our first for- mal written contact with parents. By now, parents of Grade 9 stu- dents should have signed their acknowledgment form and returned it to the school with their son or daughter. This is also the time of year when we are putting the finishing touches on our commencement and awards assembly plans. Our award. assemblies are opportunities for students, staff and parents to cele- brate the scholastic achievement of our student body. Over 200 stu- dents will be receiving Honor Role Certificates for earning an average of at least 80 per cent in their stud- ies last year. Our 105th commencement cere- mony will be held in our gymnasi- um on Friday, Nov. 6.
