Halton Hills This Week, Wednesday, November 4, 1992 — Page 13 ENTERTAINMENT Winners in the Capture the Hills '92 photo contest had the camera turned on them last week as they showed off their winning efforts. Over 40 people particiapted in the contest which saw local camera buffs pay a $25 fees to pick up a roll of film, shoot it and return the roll in the same day. The photos were devel- oped and the contesants got to pick their two best for judging a variety of categories. Photo by Kath Toth Oliver!: Globe's new direction The curtain will soon rise on Georgetown Globe’s “Oliver” at the John Elliott Theatre in just a few short weeks. Evening perfor- mances are 8 p.m., November 19 - 21, 26 - 28, and December 2-5. A special 2 p.m. matinee takes place Sunday, November 29. Tickets are still available from Royal LePage. This year, Globe is very fortu- nate to have secured the talents of Yilmaz Mustafa as Artistic Director and Choreographer and Debbie Tilson as Musical Director. An Oakville resident, Yilmoz Mustafa has quite an extensive background in both theatre and film. He has been involved in the- atre since the tender age of seven. Mustafa has had a multitude of experiences, not only as Artistic Director but also as Choreographer, Actor and Film Director. He has studied with the likes of Uta Hagen and Al Pacino at HB Studios in New York City and has also received a degree in Dramatic Arts from Sheridan College. For the past several years, Yilmaz has been involved in a vari- ety of venues. In the area of televi- sion and motion pictures, his cred- its include work with Second City TV and the feature films “Will There Ever Be a Morning”, “Strange Brew” and “Fly With the Hawk”. On stage, Mr. Mustafa has most notably appeared in the original Toronto production of “Cats” as a aves as dance captain, in ‘Les Miserables” and as Romeo in YPT’s Romeo: ani Juliet”. Yilmaz’s directorial prowess has garnered him two Thea awards. His most recent credits as Artistic Director include “Amadeus”, “Steel Magnolias”, “Tea for Two” and “Come Back to the Five and Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean”. Mr. Mustafa welcomes. the opportunity to work with such a well established company as Globe. “Oliver!” has always been one of his all-time favorite musicals and bringing it to life on stage is like the fulfillment of a dream. Georgetown’s own Debbie Tilson has been involved in musi- cal endeavors in the local area for several years. Though now a resi- dent of Rockwood, she still main- includes work as a musical director for “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” as well as several acting roles as Nellie Forbush in “South Pacific”, Sarah Brown in “Guys and Dolls”, and Kate in “Kiss Me Kate”. Debbie welcomes the challenge to work with such a large chorus and.cast in “Oliver!”. There. are over a dozen new young faces to Globe audiences and it’s great to see their growth and enthusiasm as young professionals. With Yilmaz and Debbie at the controls, we know that “Oliver!” will be nothing short of perfection! Glen Williams church hosts "Arctic" Adventures" The Multi-projector slide show “Arctic Adventures” is coming to the St. Alban’s Church Hall, 537 Main St., Glen Williams, near Georgetown, on Saturday, November 21, 1992 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door for $5.00.
