Hillier leading youth movement by Alex Tough First, youth darts, yes the young- sters are playing and at the George each Saturday afternoon. Leader Russ Hillier has been compiling stats and they should be available next week. Russ, along with Dave Scutt and others, are overseeing the sessions and there are some impres- sive plays going these’ days. Halton Darts Ontario-One darts took place at the Legion on Sunday afternoon and some excellent darts were thrown. Ian McDonald shot maximums and Dan Abercrombie and Chris Scutt, one maximum each. Many 140’s came from male and female alike. Darlene Wheeler took the ladies singles with Sandy Mercer in sec- ond place. Dan Abercrombie led the men home with Larry Hunt in pursuit. Monica Southon, limping, and partner Keith Ewing won the Darts mixed doubles with Darlene Wheeler and Marty Wheeler taking the runner up spot. On Monday last the “big” game was probably the match between McGibbon and George #2, lying second and third respectively in the standings going into the evening. ‘There was no change at the close of play with a 7-7 tie in an excellent battle royal. First one way then the other the match seesawed it’s way to an inevitable draw. Trust leaders Legion #4 to take advantage with a 14-0 win. Legion #3 won 8-6 over Timeout and Legion #1 won by the same score over George #4. George #1 had a rare win, by 8-6 over O’Tooles. Copper Kettle’s played each other with #1 coming out on top by, yes, 8-6, a popular result on the night.
