Try the Highway 7 loop by Frances Walker Suffering from a touch of “turkey overload” due to too much eating, drinking or even shopping? Here’s a suggestion - a walk in the woods to clear your head and get the blood moving again. This is a short walk on relatively flat ter- rain that is suitable for cross-coun- try skis or snowshoes. From Georgetown, proceed west on Highway 7. The access point to the trail is on the south side of the highway as it starts to climb the escarpment. The best approach is to drive to the top of the hill, turn around at the gas station, retrace your route and descend the hill. On your right you will see a large Canadian flag. It takes about 10 minutes to reach the trail from Georgetown and about 15-20 minutes from Acton. Remember that the traffic on Highway 7 is heavy, so be careful getting in and out of your car. Frances Walker and her hus- band, Ian, have been residents of Georgetown'since 1974. They have been active Bruce Trail members since then and now maintain the section of the trail that goes through Scottsdale Farm. They can often be found out on the trail with Ian’s brother Chris and their dog Maxine - clipping, sawing, chipping the wet spots, and just enjoying the beautiful Ontario countryside.
