Sewing Association ready to “Renew Your Rejects" By Dianne May Where were you on November 3, 19927 If you were at the Georgetown & District High School then you were able to see the fashion presentation by the MacPhee Workshop. : MacPhee is a designer from Edmonton that was in Toronto par- ticipating in the Sewing Festival. The Halton Creative Sewing Association was able to arrange for this designer to come to Georgetown and provide a show of her fashions that are available to the home sewer. Many interesting coats and jack- ets were modeled for us including a jacket embellished with men’s ties and also a jacket made from a Mickey Mouse towel. Lots of ideas were presented for embellishing jackets so that the home sewer is able to make their own unique and interesting outdoor wear along with several secrets to provide more professional appear- ance to your garments. * Our next meeting will be held on January 12 at the Georgetown & District High School at 8 p.m. The theme “Renew Your Smoke Kills More people die from smoke than flames in a fire. Smoke con- tains poisonous gases. Just a few breaths can kill. Most fatal home fires start at night while you are sleeping. You need early warning to escape. Protect your family. Install a smoke alarm on every level of your home. Test them monthly and change batteries yearly. Fire won't wait, so plan your escape. When the smoke alarm goes off, know how to escape safe- ly. The Halton Hills Fire Department reminds you that “Smoke Alarms Save Lives”. Rejects” will take the form of a Contest and we are asking all sew- €rs to get their sewing machines humming. There will be three categories to enter your recycling ideas. Prizes will be awarded in the form of a $25 gift certificate to be used at Fabricland. The rules are very basic. It must be a sewn article that was made from material that had a Past life. An overall “Best of Show” will also be awarded, and you the audience will be the judges. So ladies, let those creative juices flow, come out ant have fun, enjoy the evening and maybe get a few new ideas for those discarded articles in your closet.
