The members were advised that there was no truth to the report that the Ottawa Sun had asked Kim Campbell to pose for a picture with the trappings of her new portfolio, as she did her old ‘portfolio. The trap- pings were to be flak vest, hard hat, mess kit and G.L. boots. A member suggested that the Brain Trust should enter into the search for a ‘Canadian Bill Clinton. He was advised that the media had already com- menced the search and the criteria to be used. He must-be found and crowned by the media. He must be a handsome, young, unknown from an ‘out of the way Province. He must be known for a little drug use, a little phi- landering and a little war time service. It was felt that Preston Manning would not qualify. A break in the heavy topics, allowed a member to recite a cure for the com- mon cold. He said that his cure would only work if you had a poster bed. The cure was called the "Two Hat Cure.” First, you put a hat on one of the bed posters, then you crawled into the bed with a bottle of whiskey. When you saw two hats -- you were cured. So much for the medical report. It was noted that Premier Bob had returned from Florida and announced that he was taking dead aim at defeating the Federal Conservatives in’the next election. It was also-noted that the Conservatives were a pretty popular target. One of the Trust mem- bers wondered if Premier Bob had taken a look over his own shoulder recently. The Trust Chairman then brought a very serious matter to the attention of the members. He said that it just was not right that the Downtown Brain Trust did not have one single female member. He felt that the Trust could lose it's credibility if it's membership did not have an equal representation of | men and women. He stated that he had offered Trust memberships to many business women but all had declined, which he just could not understand. No member would hazard a guess as to what the problem could be. Another member remarked on Iraqi soldiers, dressed in civvies, grabbing equip- ment in Kuwait. Apparently, the Traqi's say that that part of Kuwait belongs to Iraq. He went on to suggest that we dress Some Canadian soldiers in civvies, then claim Niagara Falls, N.Y., for Canada. Talk about cross- border shopping! Those troops could go in and strip those department stores. In that they were Federal troops, they might not even have to pay tax or duty on the stuff. As reported to me, the Trust Chairman noting the "out of control meeting”, requested that someone — anyone PULLEASE move for adjournment.
