Acton kids can Dine and Dash é. od Over 20 children per day have stopped in for breakfast at the Dine and Dash Acton Children’s Beakfast Club since January 18, when the pro- gram began. The official opening was held Monday with the help of Mayor Russ Miller and MPP Noel Duignan. Acton churches and volunteers began the club when Joan Waldie, coordinator of the Acton Foodshare, noticed the increasing demand placed. on the Foodshare by families with young children. The churches are spearheading the program as a Christian Outreach project. Each morning between 8 and 8:30 a.m. children can head to St. Alban’s and have a nutritious, buffet-style breakfast for 25 cents. Children that can’t afford the quarter will not be turned awa To avoid placing stigma on chil- dren, Dine and Dash welcomes all children to come and enjoy breakfast. The organizing force of the club, who call themselves the Dream Team, stress that there are other ways children can be deprived such as in companionship or parental support. Dine and Dash coordinator Janet Cullen thanked the community and local and churches and volunteers for their support; and local businesses for their donations: Acton IGA, Acton Bakery, Acton Home Hardware, Al and Al’s Red Brand Meats, Canadian Tire, Feedback Canada, Loblaw’s, MacMillan’s Fruits and Vegetables, Mr. Muggs Coffee and Donuts, Neilson’s, Purity Life Heath Products, Freezer Frenzy and Tupperware. They are still in need of donations. of breakfast foods, money and volun- teers to help continue the program. If you can provide any of these or would like more information, contact Janet Cullen at 853-2712. LOTTERY courtesy of Convenience 10 Mountainview S. 877-9741 Guelph & Delrex 873-3056|'% Sat.
