Ed Cochrane, one of the key organizers of the upcoming pow- wow, said a local committee of vol- unteers is looking for support from town residents and merchants. Donations of money or merchan- dise prizes are needed for winners of the native dance competitions at the powwow. Voluntary donations will be accepted from merchants and Georgetown area residents attend- ing Sunday’s demonstration. Halton Hills councillor Pam Johnston will represent the town at the event, which will also feature a native crafts display. Native dancers and drummers representing several tribes from across Canada and the United States are expected to attend the Georgetown powwow. Native food and craft exhibits will also high- light the May event. It’s expected that close to 6,000 people will be welcomed to town over the course of the two-day event.
