ASSIC Alert Alzheimer’s Support Program At Acton Social Services and Information Centre (ASSIC) we coordinate the Alzheimer’s Support Program for the Acton area. Our volunteers provide telephone sup- port to those having Alzheimer’s Disease and their caregivers by supplying information and lending a listening ear to those in need. Alzheimer’s patients and care- givers can be put in touch with other coping with the disease. Caregivers can be referred to infor- mative books and tapes that may be of some assistance. Co-sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Society of Halton- Wentworth and Halton Regional Police, an ASSIC volunteer assists with registering clients. Information about family or others to contact, appearance and behavior characteristics of the person with Alzheimer’s Disease is registered on computer with the Halton Regional Police Force.
