You gotta have heart The annual Dance for Heart, organized by staff and members of Work That Body, in Georgetown, will be held at 8 p.m., Feb. 27, at the Georgetown Golf Club. Photo by Dianne Cornish Tree-planting is encouraged by CVCA The Credit Valley Conservation Authority has announced details of its 1993 private land reforestation program. The program is meant to encour- age those with five acres or more of land to plant trees on their property for conservation purposes. “We don’t just come in and plant trees,” says CVCA forester Bob Baker. We conduct soil tests, draw up planting plans, order the trees, plant them and control Brass com- petition, where necessary.” The program includes a “check- up” after year one, three and five. “With many of our publicly owned lands already planted we have to turn to private landowners and encourage them to get involved in planting trees on their property,” says Baker. The gains made by these plantings affects the quality of the environment throughout the watershed and not just the individ- ual property”. Music festival comes to Georgetown The Halton Hills Music Teachers Association has put together a Spring Music Festival, to take place. The festival is open to all piano, vocal, instrumental and composi- tion students. School, church and community ensembles, including jazz ensembles are also invited to participate. The piano and vocal classes will be at Georgetown Alliance Church with Victor McCorry as adjudica- tor. Mr. McCorry is from Halifax and has taught piano, organ and ensemble classes at McGill and York Universities. He is currently on staff at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto where he teaches piano, organ and classes in German Lieder and serves on the examination board. He has extensive conducting experience and appears frequently as a clinician and adjudi- cator for music festivals and school boards across Canada and overseas.
