Racquet Club, outside of St. Catherines. Andrew Jones of Georgetown participated in the under-12 division along with 29 other contenders. In a best-ever performance, Andrew not only reached the final, but pushed the number one ranked player, Chris Hanaberry, of Ajax, Ontario to the limit. The players alternated game vic- fories and give the crown a thrilling finish, with Hanaberry finally pulling out the win 9-7 in the 5th set. With the confidence he has gained from his close 2nd-place. finish, Andrew is looking forward to a rematch at the nationals, to be held in Calgary in May. In the meantime, Georgetown’s Melanie Jans competed in a Men’s “A” Tournament at the Toronto Athletic Squash Club. She achieved her best-ever result squash play in an event of this caliber by win- ning 4 out of 5 matches. Although she lost her second round in a tough five-game battle, she won her next two matches, thus earning the right to play in the con- solation final. She then eked out a five-game win against Meadowvale squash professional Bill Guest. Melanie is preparing for the national championships, to be held in Kamloops, B.C. later this month.
