HALTON HILLS FIRE DEPARTMENT aon % 9-4-1 EMERGENCY By Lawson Oates and Dawn Indian Summer is an appropri- ately titled film for its Algonquin Park setting at Camp Tamakwa in late August. The scenery is cap- tured brilliantly'in the cinematog- raphy by Tom Sigel, bringing to life the colorful beauty of the land- scape, so often a subject in much Canadian art. The movie is directot/writer Mike Binder’s celebration of the natural world and the nature of Indian Summer an Algonquin winner Movie Review human relationships. He blends his. themes into the plot, which is the reunion of middle-aged adults at Camp Tamakwa, where they had spent their childhood summers in. the so-called golden age of the camp. The subplots are developed through the inter-relationships of the campers, past and present, and through their individual adult lives and experiences which have distin- guished each camper. Binder is nostalgic at times with the mature campers indulging in. childhood camp pranks or in moments of reflection and recollection that the campers all experience. In addition to the magic of the Algonquin setting and well-devel- oped storyline, Indian Summer shows some very good acting abil- ity from a cast of relatively unknown actors and actresses.
