The Georgetown District High School Rebels track and field team dominated the Rebel Relays Tuesday, in a meet that featured 16 team challengers. GDHS had six first place finishes in the track events\and seven in the field events oe overall which gave them 465 point Bishop Reding fi Roa Milton fin- ished a distant second with 199 points and White the 4x800-metre relays, while the senior boys went to town winning the 4x100-metre relay, and the midget boys won the 4x400-metre relay lay. In the discus, Darin Palen finished second in the midget boys, Kevin Taylor and Matt Brain placed one-two respectively in the. junior boys discus, while in the seniors Mike Coutts placed a,close third. Stephanie McDonald took fourth in the junior girls discus, while Anabel Parkinson was sixth in the senior girls event. The shot put saw Matt Brain take first while Andrew Elinesky was behind in second in the junior boys division. In seniors, Mike Coutts finish second. The girls midget shot put had Kate Potosky place second and Anabelle Parkinson was sixth in seni o. iors. Lisa MacDonald and Kate Potosky placed third and sixth in the midget girls javelin while in the midget boys event, Pete Mashinter was fourth. Becki Couling finished fourth in the senior girls long jump and Scott Hobbs took first in the senior boys long jump. Georgetown practically owned the triple jump with Karin Walker finishing way ahead of the other jumpers to take the midget girls title, while Julia Rogers was a strong third. Kim Wiltshire took second in the junior girls. Paul gram won the junior boys event, with Jorg Schmidt taking fifth and Pete Vincette sixth. Scott Hobbs was the senior boys winner. Karen Walker was the midget girls winner in the high jump, Ryan Howitt finished fourth in the midget boysevent and Matt Brain finished a strong day with a second place finish in the junior boys high jump. Redmen gain respect at Rebel Relays By Mike Zrostek The Acton High School Redmen finished 10th out of 16 teams at the Georgetown District High School Rebel Relays Tuesday, with a great performance put in by the girls squad whose members placed high in a number of events. Amanda Bonnell, Jenny Goy, Julie Robinson and Heather Trotter led Acton on the day with strong showings in relays, shot put, javelin and the long jump. Bonnell and Goy, along with Jennifer McKay and Shondra Stroud, finished third in the midget girls 4x100-metre relay. Bonnell and Goy teamed up again in the senior girls 4x400-metre relay, with aisha Demy and Shelby Daponte, to Heather ae had the strong arm finishing second in the midget girls discus and fourth in the midget girls javelin. Julie Robinson took third in the junior girls discus and Shelby Daponte finished fifth in the junior girls javelin and sec- ond in the junior girls long jump. Another second place finish went to Amanda Bonnell in the midget girls high jump. Pearson High School of Burlington. The Redmen’s offense appeared to be strong during the first minute of the game, They even got a shot on net, but shortly thereafter, their offensive and defensive play began to deteriorate very quickly. Pearson opened the scoring mid- |, way through the first half with a shot that went over Redmen goaltender, Cari Chard’s head and into the net. Shortly after that, Pearson got a lot of spark from their offense and Things didn’t get any better for the Redmen in the second half. Chard had to be pulled from the due to an injury, but prior to f that, though, Pearson scored two. goals within minutes of each other to take a commanding lead of 5-0.
