e Entertainment Halton Hills This Week, Saturday, May 29, 1993 — Page 11° Movie Review ~Hot Shots hits the mark By Lawson Oates and Dawn Wood Hot Shots! Part Deux, Bereslie Charlie Sheen, is the seco of Sylvester Stallone’s reid action movies. Thankfully, director yds ae been able to carry ks and slapstick for an hour- Ma a-half without them getting stale, Following the Rambo formula, Sheen (playing the role of Topper) is pulled out of retirement at the request of the U.S. President to lead a hostage rescue mission in Saddam Hussein’s Iraq. In his early retire- ment, Sheen has settled down at a Buddhist Monk’s retreat where he fixes wheels and kick boxes in his spare time. Of course, there is the requisite female accompaniment played by Valeria Golino, and Brenda Blake. Charlie Sheen has certainly established himself as the heir to Hollywood musclemen such as Stallone. A nice tribute (and a paro- dy on a parody) is a mid-river meeting with his father, Martin Sheen, in his Apocalypse Now role. Hot Shots! is a great tonic for our lagging winter blues and a great start for a summer promises to be upbeat, retrospective and tongue-in-cheek.
