Civic Centre shuffle By Oksana Buhel See ya Dan! Welcome Ray! A personnel reshuffle will be occurring at the Town of Halton Hills Civic Centre July 1. Dan Costea, town administrator, will be retiring and Ray King, town treasur- er, will be taking over. Councillor Norm Elliot, chair of the interviewing committee, announced the decision Tuesday evening at the municipal council meeting. Elliot said that once the position was advertised, more than 100 people applied f for the job, from all across Canada. “At first we were considering these individuals,” Elliot admitted,” but then we real- ized we had someone just as compe- tent in our own ranks - whose work was beyond reproach, and who had a reputation of co-existing with department heads and staff.” King has been the town treasurer for 17 years. Before that, he was the treasurer for the region of Peel, and before that, treasurer of Chinguacousy Township. The new position will definitely be a change for the ‘money man.” “There will be a great many chal- lenges,” King admits, “but I’m pleased with the appointment.” While King will be encountering these challenges, Costea will be kicking up his feet and banishing all thoughts of business from his mind. Ray King “T’m taking three months off for nothing other than fishing, ea and gardening,” if he has any plans of getting sere _ to business, Costea assured that h did not - “as of yet.” What he will miss the most, Costea said, is having “a comfort- ee rentionship with competent King thanked council Tuesday night for the confidence they showed in him.
