Vice-principal Karen Gill welcomed students, before Neil Cotton, head of the sci- ence department, and. student Amy Leask took over as masters of cere- mony. Students who received recogni- tion for service to the school and community were student council president Leanne Wilkinson and student health and services.council members Ryan Brain, Stacie Colarossi, Jenn Symmes, Mike Simpson, and Harmony Bull. Heather Macewan and Christie Butler were named most instru- fnental students in Ontario Students gainst Impaired Driving (OSADD). Participants of the Georgetown Lions Club’s public speaking com- petition were recognized, with spe- cific attention focused on Micah Zarnke, who placed first in the regional competitions, and Richelle Robinson and Nancy Siegfriedt, who tied for first in the local french-speaking division. In the literary category, Lindsay Black was commended for her edit- ing work on the yearbook, and Wes May and Danya Gougeon received recognition for their honorable standing in the Tele-Direct essay sof the Express Yourself student group and formal committee were thanked for their work throughout the year. Intermediate band and wind ensem- ble members were also commended for their gold medal at the Southern Ontario Band Festival, which enabled them to participate in the national finals of Musicfest Canada in Edmonton several weeks ago.
