Gidden EE EEE EE Smith golf tourney goes Monda at North Halton Golf and Countr Everything is in place for the 17th annual Bill Smith golf tour- nament scheduled for Monday at North Halton Golf and Country Club in Georgetown;a fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society. Smith and the rest of the tourna- ment committee are hoping for good weather for the event, which has raised over $250,000 for the Cancer Society. This year’s tour- nament promises to be just as suc- cessful. The 240 spots for golfers have been filled with many more on a waiting list showing just how popular the tournament is with people not only in Halton Hills, but from around southern Ontario. There are several options for companies to get involved to sup- Port the fight against cancer. One is for a company or an individual to purchase a hole. Your name will be staked at that hole on a professionally painted sign for everyone to see, and will be left on the golf course for a period of three days. The $100 fee goes directly to the Canadian Cancer Society. A corporate sign may be chased which would have name or company name and be staked at the clubhouse larger sign than the first one. $500 fee for this sign also directly to the Canadian Cz Society. Many prizes will be given z at the tournament including cars, available for a hole-in which will be set up at diffe holes, plus a draw for a tri Las Vegas will be made. Jennifer Calnal was the star of this game when she grabbed three fly balls in the field for three outs. Katie Rowland put the squeeze on a nice fly ball hit by Acton to send the Acton player back to the dugout. April Everingham and Katie Rowland showed their fans some great pitching on the mound for the Glen while Kathryn Perdue and Kristine Boyle took care of the catching duties. Umpire-in-chief-for the Glen, Wayne Norton, has done a great job this year providing umps for the younger players. Chris Kersley, Jim Norton, Ken Armstrong, Chris Goodhew, Doug Crawford Sr., Doug Crawford Jr., Andy Teford and Wayne himself have been kept busy covering the ames.
