McKeon was the main difference in the second half - and the game for that matter - as he got the M&M bunch on the board early and kicked along single late in the game, which proved to be the difference in this tight contest. Dawgs 15 Meznic 14 The defending league champion Dawgs were caged and ready for the pound in this contest, but Meznic just short-circuited in the late going to let the mutts scurry home breath- ing a weary bark of relief. Dawgs don’t seem to be playing with the same intensity or ‘go for the throat’ drive thus far this young season that they have displayed in years past and were there for the muzzling in this match-up. Meznic welcomed back Gary Lockwood into the fold and appeared to be leading comfortably, 14-8 at the half. Whatever offensive magic Meznic had going for them in the first half, disappeared at halftime and the Dawgs pulled out the win by the skin of their canine teeth. With less than five minutes to go in the game, a Meznic scoring drive was stopped on the four-yard line and with only four plays left, Dawgs Dave Clements picked off an Hal Hulme toss deep in the Dawgs end to put a dogs collar on the game. Hal Hulme and Herb Hulme, scored majors for Meznic, with brother Howie adding a two-point convert.
