Sunday School picnic By Betty Sojka The last meeting before taking a breath for summer proved to be a lovely evening for all U.C.W. members attending. Held at the home of Mrs. Joyce Clarke on June 15, the ladies started things off by taking a walk around the Bennett grounds. The pretty foliage was noted, as well'as other wonders of nature. Mrs. Alma Sinclair held the Devotion. The regular business portion of the meeting included the viewing of a video. “The Massey Centre For Girls”, which is located in Toronto, was the topic of the video. Much was learned about this worthwhile facility. The meeting ended with a delicious potluck supper. A great variety of tasty morsels had been brought for the occasion and very much enjoyed. Folks are asked to remind their children not to climb the soccer nets in the park. The height is considerable and a fall could be tragic. A few children have already been shooed off them. The Jim Dandies had their tough- est game yet this past Thursday. Up against the Nonas Pizza both teams played extremely well, both defen- sively and offensively. One way to tell it was a great spectator’s game was by how long the game took to be played out. It was an hour and 10 minute game. Most of the innings were three up and three down for both teams. The Jim Dandies ended -up with the win. Baw 873-2254 Real Estate Update Homeowners dazzled by the peak housing market of yesteryear are failing to come to terms: with the demands of bargain hunter buyers. This is creating an added burden on a weak market. "Overpriced properties sit on the market for months. A, overlook them or take clients through them as an example of places that are priced too high. If you are not willing fo price a property right in the beginning, you're likely going to get a lot less six or eight months down the toad." Home owners who bought at the peak of the market or have watched their equity evaporate} are me having a difficult time accepting a 30 to 40 per cent drop in house prices from 1989. people's mortgages are higher than the actual value of their property." Homeowners in this ae should hold off on putting their home up for sale, if at all possible. Many potential sellers are not paying enough attention to what houses in their neighbourhood are actually selling for - especially those whose proper- ty increased as much as 50 to 70 per cent beiweelt : 1986 and 1989.
