Big week for Glen Squirt Girls was a big week for the Gien Williams Squirt girls as they took all three of their ames in both close and con- vincing fashion, beating Hornby a taking a pair from Limehous Katie Rowland led Glen Williams in their 19-18 win over Hornby hitting a two-run homer and a grand slam in the tightly played game. Rowland’s efforts at the plate were rewarded with offensive player of the game honors. Rowland along with April Everingham pitched well in the. win while Kristin Boyle and Kathryn Perdue did a great job catching for Glen Williams. Despite the score, Limehouse had some fantas- tic glove work by Dave Coles (first base) and Ryan Holman (left field). Runs were brought in by Paul Payne (2), Dave Coles (2), Roy Wigood, Jeff Halton Rapid Print downed Elk’s Lodge 22-18. Candice Shipley and Adrienne Lambert were offensive sparks for the HRP team, scoring four times each in four trips to the plate: Melanie Southworth and Laura Kelly scored three times each for Elks. Game stars were Laura Kelly (Elk’s), Alicia Jones (HRP). Optimists outlasted Pictures and Presents 30-20. Lynn Hayes scored five times in six trips to the plate. P&P got off to a slow start, scoring only seven runs in their first five innings. Nine innings would have worked to their advantage. Game star was Jessica Beaque (Opt.). Elk’s pounded out six home Tuns and still came up on the short end. Knetchel’s had only one home run but total team effort counted this one for the win column. Halton Rapid Print had a full team but it still wasn’t enough to beat the powerful Optimists club. The score was lopsided for Optimists 25-9. Janet Fairs had two home runs and Becky Malcolmson had a grand slam. HRP had a couple of Players earn game stars for defensive play. Leah Dearsley had a double play and Leanne McGowan showed real aggressive heads up ball. Amanda Dwyer earned game star honors for the Optimists team. Pictures and Presents were on the short end of a 28-12 score against Dairy Queen. A bright spot for P&P was Sarah Dougall, who scored three times in three trips to the plate. Kerri Fleming made some nice catches. airy Queen got a total team effort. Katherine MacDonald ada home run for D.Q. and Andrea Pollock showed a great arm with an outfield assist. For this, both A. Pollock and K. MacDonald were game stars for Dairy Queen. Game star for P&P was K. Fleming. Dairy Queen “continued its winning ways defeating Elks 26-19. This is a much improved Elks team. Some nice defensive plays made by both clubs. The difference in the game was two timely grand slams, one by Marie White and the other by Katherine MacDonald. Game stars were Tabatha Holman for D.Q. and Jody Stapleton for Elks. Halton Rapid Print defeat- ed Pictures and Presents 27- 20. Candice Shipley and Pembleton had a home run for P&P. HRP was powered by an entire team effort and therefore the team gets the nod as game stars. No game star selected for P&P. In other action, Optimists handed Knetchel’s a 22-13 loss. Optimists had home run power supplied by Jessica Beaque, Becky Malcolmson, Amanda Nicholl and Janet Fairs. The winning side made some key catches to stamp out any threat of a Knetchel uprising. Melissa Cheynee went 3-for-3 and Leslie Ransom went 3-for-4 to supply Knetchel’s with a lot of their offense. Game star was Amanda Nicholl for Fred Fairs, coach of the Optimists club, has accepted a position which will take him south of the border. The Position will keep him hop- ping between here and Denver for most of the sum- mer and the family hopes to relocated in early September. We wish Fred and his family all the best.
