Itis time to say thank you to those people who say -- "Bill, I wouldn't miss yout weekly column.” Aw - Gee, Shucks, you're too kind! And thanks to all those people who give me great ideas by saying - “Why don't you do a column on such and such a thing.” And also thanks to those people who say - "Why don't you write about those crummy bad word, bad word, bad word, and show them up for the bad word, bad word, they are.” Halton Hills This Week publisher, Ken Bellamy, has only uttered one comment on my 52 efforts of the year. He congratulated me on spelling his name correctly in a col- umn. The staff at the paper say this is a very good reaction from a newspaper publisher and I should be pleased. My son Jon reads the odd column of mine. He chuckles a little and shakes his head. believe this translates to -- "Dad, you have most likely set the column writing business back about twenty years." A recent caller suggested that I was much too hard on politicians, in my columns. I pointed out to the reader that I have not written a word on politicians in weeks. The rea- si being’ that bet have not id, no doubt explained by na iy that most Out at the Ranch of them are on turn! gh it may seem hard to fathom, I have not been approached by any book pub- lisher, who wants to put out a book of all my columns. It is possible that they are all wait- ing for another year of columns to be written so they can print one of those "Best Of" books. No doubt, this is the reason that I have not been contacted. One of them should make contact though, to get the inside track, because it could be very expensive for them if several publishers get into a bidding war for my col- lected works. Can you imag- ine? You can't! I wonder if I should be sign- ing a deal with a literary agent, who would promote my writ- ings. One of the guys in the Downtown Brain Trust talked about taking me on as a client. However, I am not really cer- tain as to whether he said liter- acy or illiteracy. I know he means well, however he did not have a client list with any names I could recognize. He has a Sheldon on his list, but it is not Sydney, it's Jim. Jim works in town here. Maybe I should shop for an out of town agent. If there is going to be a big celebration to mark my first anniversary with the paper, HHTW we call it, they are sure keeping it quiet. That's it! ‘They are keeping it as a big surprise! I just love surprises! Bill Ellis is an Associate Broker with Canada Trust Realty, Georgetown. FOR LOTS ¢ LOTS 10 acres-Erin $89,000-Driveway in. 4.4 acres- Eramosa $125,000. al Comer lot $99,000.
