Page 14 — Halton Hills This Week, Wednesday/ October 6, 1993 Entertainment Undercover Blues hits just the right note By Lawson Oates and Dawn Wood Undercover Blues, direct- ed by Herbert Ross, is a lighthearted look at the fami- ly life of two CIA agents on - an extended maternity leave in New Orleans. Unable to escape their “James Bond” style of life, Mr. and Mrs. Blue (Undercover “Blues”, get it?) battle street punks bras: international espionage with a sophomoric atti- tude that would have been well-suited for the Mad . ovie Hatter’s Tea Party. The Blues are played by screen veterans Kathleen Turner and Dennis Quaid. They both carry out their roles with panache and act- ing conviction. Luckily, this saves the movie from becoming just recurring series of slapstick encounters with the bad guys. Quaid’s athletic pecs and delts are given liberal screen time, eview while Tumer remains amply clothed throughout. Must be something about the demo- graphics of who is seeing movies these days. Speaking of the bad guys, the unfortunate street punk who decides to tangle with Mr. Blue_and_his_baby stroller is played by Stanley Tucci, in the role of Muerti. Muerti keeps popping up throughout the movie seek- ing Tevenge for the thrashing The = Aew= Georgetown Ravine Dining Lounge invites you to sample our al new menu... Fans of the television sit- com, Roseanne, will recog- nize actor Tom Amold, who is befriended by the Blues following a meeting at a party. Director Herbert Ross is actually able_to keep a lid on Amold’s volcanic style of acting and to an even deliv- ery of his lines. If you are looking for some safe family entertain- ment with more than a few good laughs, then the Blues, undercover style, is for you. PS. Undercover Blues takes advantage of its New Orleans setting by incorpo- tating into the story line a number of jazz marching b ands and street entertainers or “buskers” as they are own.
