PAGE 10 THE ACTON MONTHLY VOLUME 1, ISSUE 9 Continenza Jazz performs live in support of the Acton Town Hall Centre The Acton Town Hall Centre was packed, on June 9th, for a musical performance by Continenza Jazz. Led by vocalist Rocco Continenza, the local Acton band played a spectrum of jazz and blues from classic to contemporary with their own soulful interpretations. According to Maureen and Sean Ryan of Heritage Acton, Zach, Rocco’s son, delighted the 40+ people in attendance with his brilliant piano accompaniment along with Brent Gelhar (stand-up bassist), and Anthony Damaso. The band played three strong sets to an excited audience and rounded out the evening with a great rendition of ‘Summertime’. Guest enjoyed refreshments provided by The Furnace Room Brewery of Georgetown and charcuterie board snacks prepared by Heritage Acton Volunteers. From the concert ticket sales, a total of $700 was raised, with all proceeds going towards Heritage Acton’s efforts in continuing to preserve and maintain the historic Acton Town Hall Centre, located at 19 Willow Street North. Heritage Acton is a non-profit organization that owns and manages the Acton Town Hall Centre, with the vision of being dedicated to enriching lives through the arts, heritage, culture and celebration. The next upcoming event at the ATHC will be an open house on the evening of August 12th. For more info and for all upcoming events, you can visit actontownhallcentre.com Naomi Bedell R.M.T.
