PAGE 8 THE ACTON MONTHLY VOLUME |, ISSUE 10 Sew Productive expands to better serve the need of customers Tt was a full house as dignitaries and the general public came out to see the recent expansions at Sew ductive, as part of the grand reopening celebrations on Saturday, July 22nd. Community dignitaries on hand for the ribbon cutting, and to extend congratulations on the occasion, were Magi ‘stn Lawlor, and Councillors Alex Hilson, Mike Albano, and Clark Somerville. What started out as an out-of-home business of selling fabric in August 2020, eventually saw Sew Productive owner Melinda Noble move her business to a small unit at 47 Mill Street East in October 2022. From there, the business demand grew and prompted Noble to further expand at her present location. While the need to expand has been rather quick, Noble notes that the recent growth has been strategically planned with the customer in mind. “I ran out of space very quickly in that little back room and there were so many things that I would've loved to have done, and when you're out of space, there's only so much you can offer. So what was lovely, was that I was able to hear what people wanted out of the shop and then put that to use in an expansion.” Along with the ability of carrying more sewing supplies and machines, Noble says she now has more space to offer larger sewing classes. “With this permanent studio space, I can have daytime and evening classes and people won't feel interrupted, and the space won't feel cramped when people are browsing. And honestly, if you’re paying for a class, you deserve the instructor's full attention, so it makes sense to have a permanent studio space so people can learn without all of the distractions.” The expansion also allows a larger area for the quilting longarm, which Noble feels will give clients more room to spread out and feel as though they can manipulate the layers of fabric that goes into making a quilt. Noble says she is excited about the recent expansions and looks forward to better serving her customers. “Pm very excited, especially because there’s so much more here for people who have definitely come and have been able to give insight as to what they would like out of the shop.” For more information, you can visit sewproductive.ca or call the store at 519-853-0007.
