PAGE 8 THE ACTON MONTHLY VOLUME |, ISSUE 12 19 teams compete in Labour Day Weekend Washer Toss Tourney at Legion It was a day of fun as another edition of the Open Washer Toss Tournament was held on Sunday, September 3rd at the Royal Canadian Legion 197, Acton Branch. For the tournament, a total of 19 teams played to the best of their abilities of trying to land the washers into the box, all in an effort to win the grand prize of $180 and $90 for the runner-ups. The teams were selected through the drawing of names and the number of teams was up from the previous tournament, on July 16th, of just 15. Through a process of elimination, the competing teams worked their way up the ranks, with the remaining two teams squaring-off in the final game of the day. After quite a bit of effort, the team to come in first for the Labour Day weekend edition of the tournament were Joe Jubinville and Brad Middleton, claiming the shared prize of $180. Coming in second for the tournament were the team consisting of John Knight and Fred Ryan, winning the prize of $90. For the Open Washer Toss Tournaments, members and non-members are welcome to play.
