PAGE2 THE ACTON MONTHLY VOLUME 1, ISSUE 12 Bits & Pieces of Acton News e The Community Hall, at the Acton Arena, was renamed in honour of Rick Bonnette. Members of Halton Hills council, friends, and family members gathered on September 19th in a ceremony which saw the community hall be renamed the Rick Bonnette Hall in recognition of the contributions that Bonnette gave to the community while serving as councillor from 1982 to 2003, and Mayor of Halton Hills from 2003 until retiring in 2022. It was during his councillor years that Bonnette was an arena fundraising co-chair which led to the opening of the current arena in 1998. At a council meeting back in March, Councillor Clark Somerville brought a motion for the renaming of the Arena’s Community Hall and was passed unanimously by council. e In the spirit of the Acton Fall Fair, the Downtown Acton BIA held a draw where two winners would be randomly selected to win a one day pass to the Fall Fair. In order to qualify for the draw, participants had to submit favourite memories or photos of spending time at the Fair. The lucky winners for the draw were Cheri Bedggood & Rishi Kumar Damodaran. Over the past year, the Downtown Acton BIA has been holding various contests and draws, so be sure to stay tuned for more in the near future!
