The 6-foot-4, 200-pound defenseman was traded to the Oilers from Chicago a month ago for forward Kevin Todd and has played in three games for the Oilers who are 2-10-lon the year and winless in 11. Although the Oilers are struggling, Bennett appears to be getting some signifi- cant ice time. Bennett saw time on the Oiler power play Wednesday against the Ottawa Senators collecting two assists in the Senators 7-5 win. Bennett was the sixth pick overall in the 1989 National Hockey League Summer Entry Draft by the Adam Bennett Chicago Blackhawks and played two seasons for the Indianapolis Ice of the American Hockey League. This year Bennett went into training camp confi- dent of cracking the Hawks line-up but was left out in the cold, by Chicago man- agement and sent down to Indianapolis before the trade to Edmonton. : poe Ered MP Sake anne ate . The Rebels scored quickly in the first quarter on a S-yard catch by fullback Scott Teeter from quarterback Geoff Wilson for a-7-0 Rebels lead. Later in the first quarter St. Thomas marched the ball down the field and completed a long drive with a l-yard plunge to tie the game at 7-7. mas controlled play in the second quarter not allowing the Rebels offense to move the ball out past half. The third quarter was uneventful with penalties costing both teams after some key plays were made offen- sively. GDHS were driving late in the quarter but a fumble cost them dearly. St.Thomas scored the only points of the fourth quarter thanks to two 15-yard penal- ties by the Rebels defense that gave the Raiders of Oakville life on two drives that shouldn’t have happened. With the field goal making it 17-7 the Rebels refused to give up and with under a minute left in the game Jamie Bottomley appeared headed for a touchdown before get- ting caught from behind and an attempted lateral was recovered by St. Thomas to end the Rebels season.
