The Raiders, sponsored y Professional Demonstration Services (PDS), dumped their Brantford hosts, 9-2. In the opening period, Ryan Busby scored twice, and Brad Snow added an unassisted beauty after an awesome deking play. Brantford netted a goal to make it 3-1 after the first. In the second period, Kevin Binsell shot in a short-handed goal from Mark Fantegrossi’s behind- the-net pass. The two line- mates connected again 23 seconds later with another short-handed marker to make it 5-1 Georgetown. Early. in” the - third, Brantford managed to put one past goaltender Chris Henderson, but then the _ Raiders offense dominated with another four goals: two by Kyle Hotham, and singles for Tim Mansfield and Doug Martin. Earning assists in the game were Mark Fantegrossi (3), Nick Black (2), Kevin Binsell (2), Scott Pike, Brad Snow, and Ronny Larocque. There are sichites in the lobby of Gordon Alcott Memorial Arena of teams from the early 1900s. It was here that the late Gordon Alcott started kids hockey - leagues. Now Georgetown is known a: “Home of the Little N.H.L.”.. That hockey tradition is growing in Georgetown again. The number of players regis- tered in Georgetown Minor Hockey has grown substan- tially this year to force the’ number of teams in minor hockey from 48 i 1992-93 to 55 teams for the 1993-94 sea- 8 son. The cost to run the 55 teams with over 850 players and all their programs such as the initiation program, power skating, goalie clinics, is just incredible. Without the help of the 200 volunteers, the fundraising and the many sponsors this McNally Raiders hot at home After suffering two tough losses on the road, the McNally Construction Minor Novice Raiders secured a win on home ice. Last Tuesday the Raiders played host to Brantford at Gordon Alcott Arena and came away with a 1-0 victo- ry. The Raiders put in a strong effort to keep the game scoreless until late in the third period when Matt Hilts put one by the Brantford goalie. Joel MacDonald made a nice pass from the corner to earn the assist. Goaltenders Alex MacLeod and Jason Armstrong made some fan- tastic saves between the pipes for the shutout.
