less than fiftythree of the islands have been puroha sod by private parties aud built upon tho general elevation of the district and the everchanging shape of the coast lines are remarkable jutting points deep bays sadden elongations and sharp changes of direction follow quick upon each other so that tho course of the bteamer is undergoing constant alteration it is this coiistinual change which affords such pleasure to the eye on the lakes of mubkoka and though the component parts ot the landscape are water rock and tree yet the evervarying play of light and form con stantly opens out new combinations ot color and beauty with which tli sight never wearies nor the interest grows dull lake bosseau is fourteen miles long and the vil lage of the samename at its head has a de lightful location here the monteith house provided us with the best accommo dation we found on the lakes it monopo lizes a large portion of the tourist business uooi ftshixo akli snobtlxo are attractive continent is is situated at the point where tho muskosh itiver carries out the waters of the whole of that vast chain of inland lakes on the course toward georgian bay leaving bala we rounded a large island bearing the familiar name of acton gravenhurst was reached early iu the after- noon and as the waters of lake muskoka vanished in the distance we could not but conclude that our trip all around the lakes of muskoka was revest lleslett lletiuutltl and one which will no doubt be duplicated in the near future by the canadian press association for there are haunts iu this fair land ah who uisy
