notwithstanding the in variable rain storm the fair is a success as has been the case for a decade it rain ed all day the fint day of rcckwoods show and for a while on friday morning but eventually the weather clearecrand the show waa a success the number of cxhibiton in all classes wu fully up to previouryean and in some departments ahead of anyformer exhibition held in that village the rockwood brass band was present on the ground daring the afternoon and played several selections very creditably considering tbe short time they have been organized in hones and cattle then was a notice able improvement u also in aheep pigs and poultry were not so plentiful as might have been expected but those shown were of a good quality rootg and vegetables wen well represented as well aa fruit of every description the ladies department was fully up to anything ever shown ao was also the dairy produce in domestic manufactures mr samael harris made a display of all kinds of knitted wear this was not entered for competition but as a special exhibit altogether the fair was a grand success and the officen ot the aaaociation are to be- congratulated for the manner in which everything passed off the gate receipts were very satisfactory about 120 having been taken in a grand concert was held in the town hall in the evening at which some good talent was present the hall was filled to the doors with a very goodnatured audi ence miss kate strong of mount forest untortonately was unable to be present owing to seven illness her absence was much regretted by all the work of enter taining the audience fell on the band james fax and john strachan these three l however proved amply sufficient and the crowd went away more than satisfied the band played four selectipns to the satisfac tion of all john strachan gave two read ings and sang three tongs the burden of thework fell on james fax who tang about twelve tonga besides giving two recitations i the audience nearly went
