presumably tho farm ers of the district- were in town in goodly numbers to hear llic returns the business section is nrich like acfons with two intersecting busi ness streets anil both of these were and ran over that manhole during the night and early morning along about onethirty when the candidates election was as sured a motorparade including- quite a hundred cars was formed- and this with there was a good average exhibit in the hall placed of course the first day but tho entries on the second day were far below the usual number and the rain deterred any volume of visitors the continued wet weather rendered the low ground at tho entrance almost impassible and those who braved the elements found much discomfort in getting about the officers have a good claim for a sub stantial amount from the pairs fvs- soclatlon for rain insurance another motor smaahup two badly smashed cars resulted from a mixup at the intersection of the third line and the acton crossroad on wednesday evening in which for timately both drivers escaped without serious injury elmer dron acton was driving moderately to town when he was run into headon by r p ganer of georgetown who says that his steering gear went out of order suddenly and caused him to lose conv trol drons car a ford sedan is virtually a wreck having tho front wjieels and radiator smashed and the engine driver back ns well as practi cally all the glass smashed this re sult is good evidence that the george town car must have been travelling rapidly that acton fall pair is popular hi its constituency and beyond ample evidence is given from year to year phe people- come they como in large crowds they come from long dis tances they visit the fair they enjoy its attractions they meet myriads of friends they return home feeling good because of the privileges and oppor tunities afforded the exhibitors always appreciate the kindness and courtesy of the of ficials they are pleased with the treatment they receive they return year after year with the feeling that the efforts of officers and directors is to be fair and to give the public a fair worthy of the good name acton fall fair has always borne as noted last week while the weather for tho days of the fairwas quite good fair weather tho prolonged wet weather retarded so seriously the getting in of the harvest put the farmers in a very anxious position the flne weather for three of four days prior to the show rendered much of the waiting crop ready for housing and scores of farmers felt they could not conscientiously spare tho time either to prepare stock or products for exhibition or to attend tho fair themselves the result was that num bers of the classes lacked the usual volume of entries although many of the departments were well filled it was a good allaround fair and the attendance was almost as large as the average ns the gate receipts verify the school pupils parade headed by acton citizens band was a pleasing feature the singing of the scholars was fine while the music of the band was never more meritorious or more fully enjoyed the midway booths and attractions had the usual crowds and the various eoneessions dlda rushing btisin throughout the fair attractive exhibits of manufactur ers and dealers made a feature of the hall and they created a live inter est presldcdnt johnstone had a very fine exhibit f furniture james symon
