victory on saturday afternoon the acton baseball team beat the milton team 1930 ontario champions and last years runnerup 20 they outplayed the champs in every department the main reason for the defeat was too much chalmers he was in the pink of con dition and held the milton sluggers to three hits one coming in the eighth and two in the ninth there were only 20 men faced him in 6 innings the rest of the team gave him great support with airtight fielding and some nice hit ting marsh on the mound for milton was touched for eleven hits and he issued three free passes acton had men on haseevery inning and should have had at least four tnore runs they had the bases loaded twice but the weak end of the batting list was up and they were easy outs carmlchael proved to be the heavy hitter getting on base four times out of five times at bat and the fifth time was a beautiful drive to clements who misjudged it but he stuck out his hand and the ball miraculously stuck thereandtobbed dougie of asurehltr roy and fred leader each touched marsh for two hits while berscht chalmers white and waterhouse had one safety each terry walked twice to get on base while captain bill holloway got there twice on a walk and an error all nine players got as far as first base they played bangup baseball all the way and ought to be good enough for the league championship at least man ager mccomb says its the best team acton ever had mills of milton hit into a double play in the eighth with lewis on second base he tried to stretch his hit into a double and as a result both men were on second this resulted in a mixup and both lewis and mills were tagged- out in the sixth inning with a man en first holloway hit one to wilson the first baseman which resulted in a double play
