esteemed resident of acton following an illness of several weeks the death of james- abraham occurred at the home of his daughter mrs- j b lake powassan on friday morning a private service was held here on saturday evening follojwing which the remains were taken to barrle for interment in the family plot in the union cemetery the funeral taking place on sunday afternoon the late james abraham was the son of ann cneil and john abraham and was bora in london england december 27th 1852 his father was a cavalryman in the british army and perished in the famous charge of the light brigade at balaklava the deceased was apprenticed for seven years to a leather firm in london where he learned his trade as a currier his marlage to miss emda jones took place in 1886 six years later they came to canada where mr abraham had been engaged by the beardmore co of acton the family resided at acton for a num ber of years at thornbury for two years and at barrie for about 20 years mrs abraham died
