very quiet but pretty wedding took place in grace united church in bramp- ton on saturday october 6th when miss florence edria mcbrlde was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to mr norman icam both of this place miss margaret mcbrlde cousin of the bride acted as bridesmaid while the groon was supported by his brother mr leslie icam after a brief honeymoon mr and mrs icam have taken up their residence on main street mr and mrs j l craine entertained a number of our young people to pro gressive euchre on friday evening the following were the prize winners ladles miss annie puckering a china teapot margaret hayward gentlemen jas mc- lebd robt puckering after the games were finished a sumptuous tea was pro vided i miss emma lebridge of erin spent a few days with terra ootta friends a number from here took in erin fair and report an excellent time and a good fair nassagaweya rockwood the monthly meeting of the presby terian womens missionary society was held on thursday afternoon in the sunday school of the church the second vicepresident mrs j e fearen was in the chair the fortysixth psalm was read by mrs george laverty fol lowed by a thanksgiving prayer by mis a beard arrangements were made to have miss dorothy douglas give a talk on her work ik formosa at the thank offering meeting to be held the last sunday evening in october a repsrl of the sectional meeting held in eden mills was prepared by mrs d mcnabb and read by miss elva pear en a dis cussion then took place regarding a life membership and mrs brown closed the meeting with prayer on monday evening the executive committee of the rockwood and everton branch bible society met in the sunday school room of the presbyterian church mr george gordon the president who was in the chair called on rev john little to lead in prayer mr george h fearen secretarytreasurer read the report of the last meeting the usual routine business was gone through and collectors were appointed for their fall work there was a good number present and rev j p mcleod of everton closed the meeting with prayer the young peoples society of the united church held an interesting meet ing sunday evening following the even ing service it was missionary night and miss elsie gordon bad charge of the program featuring rev j c coch- ranes new book trails and tales of the northland mr arthur harrlg along with mr and mrs ben bking took part in a little drama relative to mission activities the monthly meeting of the w c t u was held last week at the home of the president mrs wni gordon with a good ateadabce a good pro gram was arranged by mesdames h dyer and george latrty instrumental selections solo readings were given by mesdames j ayles m burns miss d simmons f mc arthur and a watson and were much enjoyed mrs b howell read the bible lesson and mrs chos ti harris led in prayer owing to mr h g lowrie who spent the summer in mission work in the west being unable to take the services in the presbyterian church last sunday mr d p rowland of knox college very acceptably conducted the services and his ministry was much appreciated by the congregation holy communion was observed at st johns church last sunday mornings the regular monthly meeting of the rockwood womens institute is this thursday evening in the basement of the presbyterian church the eden mills institute are expected to be present and put on the program visitors during the weekend were mr and mrs everett e leviness of buffalo r mr and mrs robert croft toronto miss edna m fearen of dundas miss jean torrance of slmcoe dr fred hosking of blanche milne of eden mills at mr and mrs max milnes miss margaret henderson is spending a few days at slmcoe with mr and mrs robf henderson mis wm dunbar returned home last week from a visit with friends near ottawa a few from rockwood and vicinity alt- tended the international flowing match last week near toronto mr thos weajiierston is busy in the erection of a garage on the property he bought last spring formerly owned by mr wm a mccullough the house has been leased to mr and mrs g h milne and family mr and mrs oeorge webster and son dennis of nelson b o are visiting mr and mrs frank day and family on their way home from england as result of the heavy frost sunday r morning patches of ice were noticed on tbxlwr the valley road there passed away at the general hospital guelph on tuesday evening october 9th mrs levi elsley of brook- vllle following an operation from which she neyerrecovered the funeral was held from her late residence at brook- ville on friday and was attended by a large circle of friends and relatives the service was conducted by her pastor rev r h somervllle of eden mills as sisted by rev m c candler of glen morris and rev c g jones of nas- sagaweya presbyterian churoh inter ment was made in ebenezer cemetery thebereaved husband and family have the deepest sympathy of the community in their sorrow again the grim reaper death has taken away- another resident of nas- sagaweya in the person of mr john h anderson of lot 23 concession 5 near knatchbull who passed suddenly away on tuesday evening october 16th from heart trouble deceased was the only son of the late joseph anderson and a lifelong resident of this community he was a bachelor and miss alice hume is his -housekeeperrthe-bereaved-ones-have- the sympathy of the community in their bereavement mr and mrs w f darby and son of- knatcbull visited relatives and friends in campbellville last sunday owing to anniversary services at eden mills united church there will be no service in the ebenezer united church next sunday eden miljls the womens institute met at mrs n s marshalls on thursday evening for business little marie gllbertson had the mis fortune a few days ago when oh her way home froni school- to fall off a democrat fracturing her l above the elbow she is doing fine on sunday a number of friends from toronto visited with mr and mrs john marshall ospringe the october meeting of the womens institute was held cm wednesday after noon at the home of mrs james duf- fleld town line with eighteen ladles present the president mrs d g robertson conducted the meeting in the absence of the secretary through illness the assistant secretary miss nellie aitken read the minutes num erous letters of thanks were read in appreciation of fruit and flowers receiv ed this department of work of the branch is very ably looked after by mrs george young and mrs r s mccutch- eon the roll call was well responded to by a remedy for colds cuts or poisons it was decided to hold a shower of fruit and vegetables for the childrens shelter guelph and all donations to be left at the store as soon as possible a beauti ful quilt was on display which had been made for a recent bride mrs e barber gave the current events and miss mary campbell read an especially interesting article on why be a parent the motto for the month the life that counts must helpful be the cares and needs of others see was the topic for a two minute speech very capably given by miss n aitken a splendid paper by mrs j dtiflield on relief proved quite interesting and told of the work being done by other branches along this line of work a couple of victrola selec tions enlivened the afternoons program at the close- of which an amusing name contest was conducted the winner being mrs george young a dainty lunch was served by the hostess and her assistants crewsons corners miss myrtle alrdrle was home from toronto on sunday mr and mrs burlingham arrived home from sault ste marie after spend ing a week visiting with relatives and friends mr tyler visited in toronto on sun day and attended at salvatjon army congress i mr william tuck has sold his farm and intends to move near fergus about january 1st service at the church as usual at 1100 sunday school at 1000 both services are in charge of the salvation army officers from georgetown ballinafad mr m campbell spent the weekend visiting with friends at klrkland lake anniversary services were held on sunday at melville church caledon quite a number from here attended there was no service in ballinafad united church rev mr waddell took the service here on sunday october 7th it being the sunday before his 77th birthday oc tober 12th at this service the congrega tion presented mr waddell with a church hymriary potato digging is the
