of a sunny late spring day to organizations in the district last week 35 members of the dublin travel to midland where they visited the famed martyr s shrine micro plastics fills boundaries as third plant expansion undertaken 22 hi students exempt from exams exempt from writing any exam tuitions this spring are 22 students of the 138 in acton high school for 108 examinations which must be written vary from one to all sub- ccts the students are facing the final questions of the year in all grades this week fewer are required to write finals this year than last principal o rob- bins pointed out many arc exempt from all but one subject he added only five or six in lower and m d die school must write all their year s subjects examinations are being marked promptly by the staff and promotion results will be completed next week these will be published in the free press probably the week after upper school examinations began last friday and will be finished at acton high school june 21 results will be available about mid august with all examinations handed in early next week the students will return to the school for the promo tion assembly next friday reports will be given out then square foot addition which squares off the present building and fills out the wallace street property covered by the local plastics industry the new area one storey high and of cement block construction was made necessary to house an other manufacturing unit and the rising production of micros high impact styrene a comparatively new type of tough flexible sheet plastic which has gained ready popularity on the canadian com mercial and industrial market the material a polystrene plastic is being supplied in large quantities to refrigerator manufacturers in this country it is used in this in dustry to form the inside lining for refrigerator doors styrene produc ed at micro plastics now employ ing in the neighborhood of 50 people is little more than a year old in this form potential uers of high mpact styrene open a broad market for the locally produced material which may eventually be utilized in radios television sets novelties advertising gadgets and a mult t ude of other consumer products company officials have expressed optimism about the future of high impact styrene in both commerc isl and industrial areas at present micro plastics are the sole canad ian manufacturers of the smooth glossy substance it is expected the building will be completed next month contrac tors are len ariss construction of guelph cnib campaign noted success here about 60 per deplorable when the road committee made its inspection of county roads we found this road to be not too bad a great amount of gravel had been put on this road last year prepar ing for a hard top reeve held its annual church school and congregational picnic last saturday afternoon at the breezes on fairy lake the showers in the morning failed to dampen enthusiasm and it was one of the best attended
