counties in the guelph area spent an enjoyable day at the oac campus last saturday competition was except ionally keen this year with the an nouncement that points would be allotted for each event and a coun ty championship declared- halton and waterloo counties shared the honors as each county ran up total of 55 points horse shoe pitching leonard thompson acton and don johnson milton teamed up to defeat all comers in the horse shoe tournament and brought home the bronze shield and champion ship crests which were awarded fo the first time this year coached by helen heslop milton the girls basketball team won its first game quite handily only to meet waterloo and defeat in the second round however the water loo girls went on to win the champtonship peel county won the rifh shoot ing competition for the third con secutive year with a score of 199 points out of a possible 200 hal- tons team mustered 150 avithhoj- son ruddell having the high hal- ton score of 50 square dance set second while a square dance set was entered in advance of the fied day on friday evening it was gen erally agreed that the entry should be scratched needless to say when the set appeared on the memortat hall stage girls in shorts and the boys with shirttails flying the crowd thought it a big joke how ever the judges evidently recog nized the fact that practically every member of the set had danced at either the cne or royal with ive result that second place was awarded to them- roy ford called and music was supplied by marjone segsworth at the piano and david pelletterio with a borrowed violin sparked by hard hitting first baseman butch martin of hockey fame waterloo junior farmers won the softball championship halton smarti fielding team ably support ed by three pitchers john wili-
