arthur jack chapman on thank sgiving day at his home in fergus saddened his man friends here for the past two months he had been under the doctors care but was looking forward to resuming his duties early in november born in stayner ontario in 1896 the son of elisabeth and george chapman he had spent most of his life in acton mr chapman was educated in acton public and continuation schools and attended shaw business school jn toronto he served with ithe canadian arm overseas 191418 on march 1 1919 he married mis dons webster of guilford 6urrev england tvo children were born before the family re turned to canada in 1923 th chapman lived in montreal and toronto before returning to acton in 1933 when mr chapman joined the metropolitan life insurance company as agent of the acton milton and rock wood area while in acton he served a warden and sundn school tupe lntendent of st albans church and wa verv active in the legion where he was president for i term keenly interested in com munity affairs mr chapman w is a member of council and served on the acton public school boad as chairman moving to fergus five years ago tie took over the metropolitan ag ency there and made many friends in the ferguselora area he was a member of mercer lodge mas onic the fergus i o o f fergus service club and the fergus branch of the canadian legion mercer lodge held a memorial service tuesday evening october 11 at the rumlcy funeral hom funeral services were held wed nesday october 12 from st albann church with rev evan jones- and rev edward wallace fergus conducting the erice pallbearers were w j beatty george mus- selle and a ironside acton and s lantz c v robinson and j vaughn of guelph the many beautiful floral tri bute were carried by senior mem bers of the legion re edward wallace conducted the graveside scrvicc membersof the legion were in attendance and conducted the last rites at the cemetery a devoted family man he is mourned by his widow a daughtei kay mrs robert pfaffi st john quebec a son john w his mother mrs elizabeth chapman and a sister mis madge chapman of acton his father and three sis ters predeceased him five grand children will sorely miss
