esquesing township for annexation compensa tion met with friendly treatment at councils monday night session where members learned that a com- mittee composed of councillors from both municipalities had come up with a figure of 96000 plus ac tons assumption of due school de benture debt payments from the annexed area the 6000 to be paid in three yearly instalments of 2000 is a far cry from the approximate 25000 first asked by the township after tile annexation of 465 eaejuesins acres became eiffeetive early this year council considered the- most re cent proposal very fair members added that the township was as suredly entitled to this much com pensation for land lost to the town under the annexation order no action til 1956 while there is every indication the proposal will be accepted this council cannot take action to com plete the agreement under a rul ing of the municipal act councils are not allowed to enter into agree ments involving large sums of j money between nomination time and the end of the retiring year j this same ruling applies to esques- j ing and their position it is likely the new councils of both munici palities will table the agreement for early action in 1956 at the outset of monday nights meeting a delegation from the organizing parks commission r r parker art padbury and mrs george fryer appeared before council mr parker as spokesman asked for the towns views on the function of the commission he said the group was enthusiastic but needed some direction from council regarding its area of action it was pointed out that council is presently awaiting information from the municipal department re garding a parks commission by law legal aspects of its establish ment and its municipal status mr parker noted the next meeting is scheduled for january council considered the desired information should be back by then discus park program brief discussion on the com missions proposed program and projects that could be undertaken followed mr
