thanks for the recently held deer hunt in halton county and iii particular to thank those property owners who did not post their land and allowed hunters to enjoy the sportsmanship and fellowship of a hunt without travel ling to the far north to many peoplethjsjs the only opportunity fofc such sport for ex ample one hunter that i met was 73 years old it is older hunters like this with their older type of guns that a deer is of true value rather than to the younger hunter with his automatic gun who is only interest ed in thekill and curses the labor of hauling the deer home some even neglect to clean out the en trails and allow the meat to spoil the use of slugs and dogs seemed to work out very well resulting in fewer wounded deer being left in the bush than when shot was used and dogs not allowed one sugges tion i would like to make would be to- have a hunt oftener but to only shoot buck deer this would make the hunter identify his game before shooting and also protect the fawns and does who are not as adept at avoiding hunters and dogs this would majre for better and more sportsmanlike hunting and allow shorter periods between open seasons i hope this letter is a step to wards better understanding be tween property owners conservat ion officers and true sportsmen a ratepaying hunter tlotyltttc t car skids on ice slams into bank david stamp of norval was tak en to peel
