outline the steps in getting a fran chise from the first move to the last he mentioned that ooth his company and the halton natural gas company had had their fran chise forms approved by the ont ario fuel board and two readings have been given the bylaws in each council for each of the three firms mr evans told board members that the best of relations existed with the anthony gas company and that his company was still inter ested in purchasing the gas produc ed by the anthony company if the franchise was granted to the unit ed suburban gas company mayor armstrong interrupted to remind mr evans that at the time of the milton hearing on the fran chise form for his company no ag reement had been formulated be tween the two companies concern- the purchaseof the gasc mr evans informed the board t he had receiv n from the halton natural gas com pany about six weeks ago stating that they planned to withdraw their franchise request and would give his company a formal letter stating this mayor armstrong doubted this he said that since that time in the latter part of december the solicit ors for the halton company had been to georgetown council to in dicate that they were continuing their efforts mr evans continued he suggest- that since the anthony gas comp anys franchise form hearing would be heard oh january 26 he would wait until january 30 to appear before an three councils for the third reading of his bylaw and the anthony company could have theirs read at the same time then he explained both companies could appe beforethej fuel board for the certificate of public conyen- acton high school annual 11 tw athome friday january 27 public school auditorium music by harvey smiths orchestra mr ruddick corrected mayor j armstrong when he said that a i lence and necessity on the same i date interest of industries this said mr evans would give an agreement could be- made for he anthony gas company a fair the united suburban company to ch and the coccus purchase anthony gas i cou criticized r showing fav- or to one company in that case the demand and capacity mr evans gave the board some approximate figures on the use of gas in the three towns and the cap acity available to his company he also indicated that the estimated cost of laying the pipelines to and through the three towns was 1- 308466 and that his company was j ontario fuel board would decide which of the two companies would be the one to supply gas to the three towns chairman johnson inquired of mr dutton about the interest being shown by the milton brick comp any in the gas mr dutton said finanriallv sninh enmpt t w that although nothing h been de- fimtely decided the company was health clinic is discontinued in eden mills the child health clinic held once a month in eden mills for the past three months will not be con tinued for the time being it was begun only as a parttime clinic though there is hope that it may continue on at some date to be set in the futu the attendance for the three clinic days was good on novem ber 2 theclinic saw 41 children on the second day december 6 there were 32 children january 4 the last day saw a small drop in the attendance with 31 registered some of the children who may be in the middle of a series of in oculations for whooping cough dip- theria andttanus can finish their immunization by attending either t act h clinic in acton if they live in halton or rockwood health clinic if in wellington county there also may be some wh have not been vaccinated for small pox and these children could also go to either of the county health clinics the child health clinic was sponsored by eden crest institute and eden mills institute of eden muls this expenditure mr evans continued that his company was having a problem which could only be remedied by the granting of a third reading of his bylaw in the very near future the consumers gas company from whom his company proposes to purchase the gas had given them an option for enough gas to supply the three towns for three years this option he explained expired on january 31 1956 and since it was an extension of the option he didnt feel that any further extens ion wouldbe granted the speaker asked that each coun cil give the third reading of the united suburban bylaw as soon as possible so that he could adver tise for the necessary two weeks on an application for a certificate of public convenience and necessity the last step in procuring a fran chise mr evans added that his company would not be able to get the gas for the three towns if the councils didnt hurry natural gas by july 1 he also indicated that if they took the option on consumers gas his company would have to start taking the gas on july 1 1956 so that the towns would have their gas on that date if the gas were not taken on that date it would have to be paid for anyway and therefore the company would do everything in its power to have the three towns ready to receive it then i interested as 1300000 galionsrof oil were used last year which could be replaced at a great saving by 700000 cubic feet of gas a day mr dutton with reluctance men tioned that his company had been in contact with p l robertsons manufacturing company near mil ton smith and stones company at georgetown and the canadian met er company below milton all the major industries stated mr dutton would be interested johnson new chairman after the departure of both gas company representatives the board discussed th information left most members indicated favor of the united suburban company al though nothing official was decided on a motion by mayor pearen and mr cook a meeting is called for friday january 27 when the clerks of the three towns will meet with a solicitor to go over each of the bylaws from both
