the manor residents a very pleas ant visit last december came again to provide a very interesting and enjoyable program there were about 25 of these young girls rang ing in age from 12 to 17 years and they were accompanied by their gracious leaders mrs douglas and mrs taylor there were also a number of ladies present who had brought the girls in their cars mrs a stinson mrs f brewer mrs emerson and mrs livingstone in the absence of superintendent and mrs clarke the visitors were welcomed by mrs brant rn sup ervisor of the infirmary the program opened with a com munity singsong led by mrs douglas tharrisitors and residentsr sang in unjsgn a group of such well knowicfavdrites as my bonnie and john peel this was followed by the singing of a group of songs by the cgit girls themselves these songs included such favorites as row row row your boat and white choral bells the girls led by mrs douglas sang these songs very sweetly then came three very appealing solos jesus loves me by cheryl taylor a little spring song by ken taylor and the sacred popular song he by sharon knowles cheryl and ken taylor are the small daughter and son of mrs taylor mentioned above as one of the leaders bar bara wood played all the accomp animents very capably the leaders of the group showed the audience a collection of very pretty colored slides which depict ed scenes in the holy land many of these slides showed scenes con nected with the life of christ and were very interesting and inform ative mrs taylor ran theprojector for the showing of these slides and mrs douglas read the instructive commentary the visitors and residents joined voices in the singing of two famil iar hymns abide with me and the old rugged cross led by mrs taylor mrs taylor closed the meeting with prayer after which a large they were accompanied by two small boys murdoch mcfarlane their son and bobby mccumber son of mr and mrs vernon mccumber of george town he is also a grandnephew of mr john mccauley one of the res idents of the manor bobby who is a member of st johns junior choir was a gold medalist in sing ing at the north halton music festival and had come to sing for the residents bobby has a very fine voice and his two solos dare to be a daniel and he lives were enjoyed very much his solos were accompanied at the piano in very talented fashion by mrs mcfar lane mr mcfarlane read as his scrip ture lesson the third chapter of first corinthians before beginning his scholarly and forceful sermon mr mcfarlane paid a personal tri bute to mr eric clarke the super intendent whom he has known for some time for his fine work in the salvation army and at halton manor mr mcfarlane began his sermon by pointing out that all the great civilizations have had great build ers although the buildings that were built by such masterbuild ers as the assyrians the egyptians the greeks and the romans are famous for their size or beauty the greatest building that a human be ing can build is his own character and his own life mr mcfarlane then explained how belief in god and christ can help us build for eternity the residents appreciated mr mcfarlanes kindness in coming from georgetown to conduct this service and trope thathe ana mrs mcfarlane murdoch and bobby will come again hear band concert after the church service on sun day afternoon may 27th the res idents assembled in the dining room to hear a band concert pre sented for them by the oakvillc citizens band there were about 25 musicians in the band and they were under the leadership of their very talented leader bandmaster frank locjcsley at the close of this varied and very enjoyable program mr clarke the superintendent expressed the thanks of the audience to band master locksley and the bandsmen and by special request of mr lock sley muriel
