are faced with a difficult problem some of the toronto milk distributors have already advised their shippers that they must have their bulk tanks in stalled by the spring of 1957 if they want to retain their present market for the shipper of nine cans or more the problem is not insur mountable however for the four or five can shipper many folk are wondering if an additional investment of 2000 or thereabouts is economically sound then we have the inflated land values which presents another angle with these thoughts in mind the officers of the halton soil and crop improvement association are giving the program for their an nual twilight tour on tuesday july 3 a farm business manage ment aspect present plans call for the tour to start out at 730 pm when the group will visit the experimental plots on wild carrot control laid down by the botany department at the oac on the third line of esquesing here under the leader ship of or c m switzer a series of plots utilizing various rates of application of brushkill 2 4 5 t and lv ester 24 d were laid down- on june 7 similar applications will be made in midjuly and early fall using the same materials the next point of call on july 3 will be the farm of ken ella at hornby where there will be an opportunity to in spect a long term demonstration pasture laid down in 1955 follow ing this the final call will be at the farm of fred nurse near ashgrove after an inspection of crops dr h l patterson qf the farm econ omics branch will lead a discussion on the farm business setup attbe nurseland farm in short it boils down to this should the operator here launch on a building program to increase his dairy herd to a point where the bulk tank would appear an economically sound ven ture or should he go out of the dairy business and concentrate on building up other enterprises on ihc farm- there must be many farm oper ators who are faced with a some what similar problem and conse quently the program as planned for
