the canadian national institute for the blind is making an earnest appeal to residents of acton and district to support their current financial drive members of the duke of devonshire chapter of the i ode are calling doortodoor during the coining week money is needed to supply the i many services offered free to the i 33 registered blind persons living in halton county four of whom i live in acton these services in clude training job placement lib- rary service recreation and many others which help the blind to achieve a large measure of inde pendence and selfsufficiency i the canadian national institute for the blind maintains in this area complete service program for both those persons losing their sight and those persons already j without their sight j the institute has a special de- partment for the care of the pre- school blind children as well as vocational training and rehabilitat- ion for nil adult blind persons j some of these services are em- ployment supervision of industrial stands and cafeterias library ser- t vice which includes talking books braille and moon type books pro vision of social and recreational activities such as the annual picnic 1 which was
