against new school at brookville dear sir if would appear that nassaga- weyas 10 mill tax increase this year caused by public and high school costs will only be ttie start of more- tax hikes as next monday june 20 the nassaga weya school board is meeting with tlie nassagaweya council to discuss me building of anoth er second large public school at brookville and presumably closing the campbellville school as a heavy taxpayer in nas sagaweya i think if the build ing of a second large public 1 school is necessary it shourld not be built at brook ville just rear of the present school as proposed by the school oard or the following treasons concentrating all our public school children at brook- ville on a few aeries of ground has these disadvantages and problems what happens dn the case of a large fire or explosion in one school when theyre so close together what happens if a water pol lution problem develops in that area what happensin the case of a severe epidemic this term at brookville saw practically aui epidemic or infectious hepatitis a disease much more serious than generally realized what happens if we do have that atomic attack that militar ists arc always talking about do we blow all the children to hell at one time and place dont laugh at this one youll see american planes sac loaded with atomic bombs flying over head in this area every day if you just look up in the sky one otf ithe reasons given for needing another new school is so that home economics and shop can be taught now why should the school board spend thousands of the taxpayers dol lars to provide for the teaching of subjects at brookville when we already have spent tens of thousands of dollars on the same equipment and facilities for these same courses at our high schools where practically all the children end up anyway this would just be another case of wasteful duplication of ser vices if we need another school be cause of classroom crowding that is a different matter and if we must build it then let it toe built dn the areajjftjie town ships greatest concentration of population namely at camp bellville here the village children can iwalk to school this would mean thousands of dol lars saved in school bus charg es alone already bus rranspor- ttation charges have increased 15000 this year to now i be- jieve a total of 58000 a year furthermore why should the people of campbellville and vi cinity not retain a school is some person or group tryipg to downgrade campbellvhlle in fa vor of brookville and why hasnt the planning board been consulted in this matter after all nassagaweya has hired pro fessional planners at quite a high cost to the people so you the people of nassaga weya and especially campbell ville and area remember mon day night june 20
