final score was acton 31 and milton 22 the senior rcdmen defeated tnrec victones each the two teams seniors and juniors have defeated milverton mil ton school for the deaf and elora both milverton and milton have junior teams in the league for the first time miltons senior team is also a new entry led by neit anderson and bill landsborough with 10 points each the junior- red- men defeated milverton 34- 17 on milvertons home court dan arbic paced the senior attack- with a 33 point perfor- qiancy in their 65 to 29 win bvermuvertqn seniors using an alert mantoman defence the seniors were able to steal the ball repoaledly without in curring too many fouls other high scorers were allan mc- nabb with 12 points and harry oehlrich with 9 points against milton school for the deaf the acton juniors started to come into their own bill landsborough was start- iog to hit with more consis tency the boys worked hard to go ahead 10 to 2 at quarter timc never headed milton by the lopsided score of 68 to 29 again dan arbic was the big shooter with 20 points other players starting to show their potential were alan mcnabb with 14 points and dick barclay with 13 after this gome the juniors lost the services of bob main bill black and mike cooper and the seniors lost phil du- puis and stephen johnston be cause of academic restrictions however the seniors picked up bob turkosz who started with the juniors last year but has been recuperating from a severely fractured leg they also obtained the services of veteran gerald dick who has returned to resume his studies on thursday january 19 elora visited acton coaches mccallum and sumdvan felt they were the teams to beat the juniors jumped to a quick 121 lead early in the first quar ter however elora fought back to tic it at 15 the first half ended 28 to 20 for acton then our boys caught fire they outscored elora 32 to 10 in the second half to trounce the visitors 60 to 30 the big man for acton in this game was mike marcoux with 18 points followed closely oy bill landsborough with 17 and jim piehl with 14peter- marzo scored his first points of the season sinking two foul shots again led by dan arbic the local seniors outpointed elora 64 to 55 arbic scored 20 points and now has an average of 25 points per game dick barclay followed cjosely with a neat 17 point total gerald dick play ed his best game and contri buted 10 points alan monabb added to the victory with a steady 10 point performance the seniors play head up basketball and if they can keep clear of too many fouls they should go all the way to the district championship benefits of hockey for our youth and whereas this being the canadian centennial year it is important that all canadians support truly canadian activities and whereas the game of hockey is recognized as canadas national game which teaches our youth to develop a competitive spirit cooperation with others bodybuilding and respect for authority and whereas it is the hope of every municipality to develop one or more players capable of representing canada as a member of canadas national team and whereas the minor hockey association in this community has earned the com mendation and support of
