appreciation for her past years of service large dogs ate roaming the bushland of nassagaweya john wilson of rjl 2 rock- wood reported two of the ani mals killed a young deer in his barnyard the thursday before good friday last monday they returned and attacked a purebred sow before one dog was shot by mr wilson the deed dog was wearing a collar indicating h may have belonged to someone who community centre while the acton members en rolled at the acton commun ity centre to date over 100 4h club membe have joined one or more of the twelve different clubs available in the county vation school lois hunter and bryan bessey both halton county junior farmer mem bers explained the operations of the junior farmers of on tario and the opportunities available to young people by joining this of the day requires increas ed capital to help provide- this capital the ontario govern ment through the department of agriculture and food has created a capital grants pro gram this program is to provide financial assistance to fanners to make capital improvements on their farms advisory and technical services ar available from the ontario department of agriculture and food coder this program capital grants are available for farm drainage the construction ren ovation or enlargement of per manent farm structures farm water supply including ponds and wells fencerow removal and field enlargement under the capital grants program any farmer whose gross income the previous year is at least 3000 may apply for grant assistance in this pro gram farmer includes a part nership or a corporation engag ed in the business of farming the farmer must own the land on which the capital grant is to be used the amount of assistance for farm drainage and farm struc tures will be 33 13 per cent of the cost of the improvement s up to a maximum of si 000 per farmer in the case of a part nership or corporation the maximum grant is the same si 000 the assistance mav ap- plv on one improvement or a combination of improvements the capital grants program for farm water supplv is to grtemboase vegetable growers to eket the to area board by c wa greenhouse vegetable tom- ato lettuce cucumber pro ducers in the counties of hal ton peel york simcoe on tario and durham are meeting on wednesday- april 5 at 8 pan to elect five persons to the district greenhouse vegetable producers committee and two members to the local board all ontario board this meet ing will be held in the board room ontario depanment bf agriculture and food 3 eliza- bath street brampton the marketing board will hftve control of the marketing of all greenhouse vegetables persons engaged in all forms of marketing except direct to consumer will be licensed minimum prices will be es tablished these prices will oil decided by the committee five that you elect at this ting prices can be chang es often as necessary to operate this plan be pah by the producers ifrrisbe necessary for all pro- to take part and pay tees fees will be paid accord ing to volume of production so much per pound or dozen this plan is compulsory and persons not cooperating can and will be prosecuted in the courts and forced to take part this type of action should nev er be neccssarv however as long as each producer carries out his responsibilities in con trolling the plan to his best ad vantage this meeting is a chance to ask any questions regarding the regulations within the plan and to vote for representative growers to help run the plan for the next year this will be a meeting no greenhouse vegetable producer should miss insured firemen in ogden utah were called out in 4he middle of the night to put out a house fire but they didn4 have to rescue any occupants the blaze was in a tree house built by neighborhood child ren provide linancial assistance to ontario farmers to aid them in providing an adequate supply of water for their livestock and crops the farm pond program is iivntly operated by the ontario department of agriculture and food and the ontario depart ment of energy and resources management with arda participation provided the water supply development meets the appro priate regulations- the ontario government will pay 50 per cent of approved costs of con struction of water wells up to a maximum grant of 500 per farmer and ponds up to a max imum grant of 500 per farm er under the fencerow removal policy a farmer is eligible to apply for 40 per cent of the cost of approved fencerow re moval for field enlargement up to a maximum of 500 per farmer in cases of partner ship or corporation the maxi mum grant is 500 this assistance is available for use of hcaw equipment to remove stones trees and brush and old fences for field enlargement the grant will not applv to fencerow remov al where a new fence is to be built and therefore does not constitute field enlargement assistance is exclusive of the owners own labor and mach inery the program for drainage artd farm structures extends over a period of twelve ears this will enable the gram to be used most effectively applications may be made am time during the twelve- year period beginning april 1 1967 a farmer who is eligi ble for a grant ma obtain application forms from any county or district office of the ontario department of agri culture and food the applicant must forward the completed forms showing a detailed statement of expend itures accompanied bv orig inal receipts marked paid in full to the agricultural rep resentative legal problem could you afford his fee you can now a criminalor cjvil action or
