club on thursday night plans were continued for the annual zone picnic to be held in coronat ion park oakvllle on june o when it is hoped a full bus toad will participate in this first outing of the year members were reminded to bring their own beverage this year as well as their lunch this should rule out a lot of confusion as it was found hard to serve hot tea and cof fee to such a large crowd as attends these picnics further plans of the picnic will be an nounced at the regular after noon meeting on june 1 the annual bus trip was dis cussed and a trip to colllng- wood in june during senior citizens week was favored the secretary was instructed to write for information at once several thank you notes were received mrs shoemaker thanked air who had sent cards phon ed and showed kindness while she was ill mrs mcenefy thanked the club for the love ly plant given them on their 55th wedding anniversary those who had sent cards and had helped make the occasion a happy one more quilting was to be pro ceeded with right away mr arid mrs rolston and mr and mrs cossar were appointed entertainment conveners for june and july mrs de vries was appotriri ed lunch convener with mrs kennedy miss somerville mrs reed mrs smith mrs shoemaker and mrs paul as helpers robert warne was mc for the entertainment and gave a few of his impressions of ex po which he attended on op ening day he was greatly impressed by the magnitude of the buildings the apparent high cost of it all and espec ially the telephone building and a huge map of canada done in different minerals showing where each was found in canada mr warne called on jack holmes who very nicely play ed a solo on the horn and re ceived a hearty encore he was accompanied by mr banks on the piano a sing song followed a group of choraliers were enthusiastically welcomed and after a couple of solos by jack denny the choraliers sang a few of the old favorit- es the happy wanderers 1iri looking over a four leaf clo ver etc to the great enjoy ment of the audience then they thrilled all with their singing of herman freulers hymn to canada to the music prepared by george elliott mrs kennedy thanked the choraliers for coming to sing and mr davidson on behalf of the golden agers presented them with a cheque for 25 to mm md first secretary of the golden age club reads an address in his honor and bob ohara first birthday was sung to mrs nelson lambert mrs creasey mrs healey and mrs rolston happy anniversary was sung for mr and mrs jack margrave who celebrate their 49th wedding anniversary mis month all were
