the boys and girls band of 20 years ago mrs allan green and mrs r l davidson both receive a 5 voucher for mer chandise at dills stationery store mrs davidson was able to id entify the young players not from memory but from a list hand written for her that very year bv bandsmaster charles mason himself she was presi dent of the wi which held a banquet and made a presenta tion to the band for held on the patio of mrs james mccullochs home by the lady directors of the fair board on wednesday july s the very guelph university graduates first batch of engineers the university of guelph passed another milestone this year when 22 members of the graduating class of the on tario agricultural college re- jceived jtie bkcjbelor of science in engineering degree these- were the first engin eering degrees earned com pletely on the guelph campus previously students who spe cialized in agricultural engin eering could later obtain a de gree in engineering by com pleting further studies at the university of toronto successful event was held both afternoon and evening and en joved by many visitors all the fair board ladies- as sisting were garbed in their attractive centennial gowns and some of the guests wore oldfashioned costume as well mrs mccullochs committee included mrs frank freeman and mrs george wallace mrs george stephens donat ed a pair of lovely cushions to sell tickets on the draw was made at the fair board meet ing and the winner was mrs stan matthews acton students can expect their grade 13 results about august 31 number of papers written were down with re quirements browne with al leishman now 91 and charlie allen an octogenarian lined up neatly by height the juvenile orange lodge had a good representation under mr and mrs ken mcdonald of crewsons corners cindy thornhill and heather higgins guided the bright friendship banner with steven gordon and richard soper as flag- bearers mr browne has taken part in orange celebrations since he was a lad of five he has many lodge associations a ilarge number of orange lodges took part in the parade held at gait the parade in cluded bands lodges and ban ner bearers with awards being given to the most attractive
