thursdaevenlng mrs bob grant baloo of the cub park presented the new tenderfeet on behalf of akela mrs earl jordan scoutmaster henry devries known as ahp and assistant kevin conroy dub bed bosun received the new ad ditions cubs mark rowe terry slav- en leslie coles russell coult rup barry allan glen lee rob ert gibbs blayne cleland barry payne made the ascent to scout ing baloo read a message from l akela wishing the boys every success in the scouts the cubs wished each of their chums goodbye in turn before stepping over the ceremonial rope which signified the bridge between the two branches of the movement parents of the new scouts were served tea at the conclusion of the ceremony by baloo and mrs cleland president of the scout mothers restore pioneer strengthen ties a pioneer cemetery east of balunafad stands today as a prime example of what can hap pen when a group of dedicated people take it upon themselvesto strengthen their ties with tte past i restoration of mcenery stated weve had assistance from the township council and money has come in from points as far away as western canada she said mrs mcenery said the com mittee hopes to have enough mon ey left to create a perpetual fund it all started last june when advertisement traced in local papers invited all parties inter ested in restoring tte cemetery to a meeting from that came an election of officers strength ening of the board of trustees and an appeal to council for aid they steered the committee to the department of health and a representative was sent from there to meet with tbena and there were ttcon- vlettons registered in magis trates court ed tnqufect 24 safety checks perforttad less than 19ef the cars checked were issued safety sticks rs magistrates court in milton on october 23 saw actons heav iest docket in some months pre sented a total of 38 cases were called before the bench of these 18 were remanded toalater date one was dismissed and 19 con victions were registered centennial service in october with a former minister rev j ewer stewart as the guest speaker mr stewart was pastor of the charge some 40 years ago and gave a most in spiring message to the many who attended his keen memory re called many amusing and in teresting incidents from the past in rockwood and he reminded the residents how very fortunate they were to reside in such a beautiful spot mr stewart stressedthe forti tude of our forefathers and re minded that as soon as their first homes were built in their new country a church was erected for worship our fathers of confederation were
